Placing temp controller on fridge

Post by StrontiumDog » Mon Oct 01, 2018 11:07 am

Hi everyone

I'm slowly putting my kegerator together and having solved my 'big gap in the side' issue I'm now thinking about where to place my temperature controller.

I have an STC-1000 and I have few options;

1. Project box on the top
2. Project box inside
3.
Cutting a rectangle in the top and mounting it vertically (as per picture)

For asthetics I don't really want to have the controller in a box on the top but at the same time I want to be able to see the temperature setting so not keen on mounting it inside either (can't put it on the side as there won't be room where it will live). My preferred option at the moment is to cut a rectangle in what I will be using as the top of the fridge (to be decided, probably painted hardboard) and mount it through the top of the fridge, the wiring would then attach to the inside of the fridge roof and out a hole at the back.

Does this seem sensible??? What does everyone else do??

Inside is fine unless you are cold crashing right down to 1 degC or so.

I’ve got mine mounted remotely on the wall if you want a 3rd option.

I was thinking about wall mounting but figured due to the depth of the unit the box would be massive! I've got an inkbird ITC-308 and was considering getting another but want to save £35/40 and use up the bits I already have

You can get deep but compact enclosure like this.

Any electrical wholesale can get a plastic one to suit.
