Storage of Beer Engine or what to do when not using it

Post by shoreman » Wed Jan 22, 2020 6:39 pm

Any tips on storing your beer engine when not using it? Do you empty it out? Run sanitizer on the lines? Keep water stored in the Cylinder? etc

I'm a little worried about the Cylinder getting moldy or off-flavors. Thanks.

Beer line cleaner and rinse. That works for me.

Thanks, do you drain the beer line and cylinder dry?

I pump all the water out but Angram cylinders never actually dry out so if I’m not using it for awhile I pump sanitizer through every month or so. For long term storage you would need to open the cylinder and dry it out. You will need new seals because they form to the glass.
Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.

I just pull until the rinse water runs out/air starts coming through then disconnect the beer line from the pump. If it's not used for a while, I'll pull some more line cleaner through before using.
