Taps that mount directly on AEB keg
Taps that mount directly on AEB keg
I have one unbranded keg that does not have a rubber top - easy to fit a tap that is screwed straight onto the disconnect.
I'm thinking of getting an AEB keg with the rubber top - can I mount the tap in the way that I do now (it looks to me that the rubber will get in the way and I'll need to attach a tube line with the tap mounted remotely.
Does anyone know of a tap that will mount directly on the top of a 19l AEB? - or even a Cornelius with rubber top?
Cheers

One of these and a flow control tap works ok.

I always wondered how anyone manages to pour a beer properly with a tap connected direct to the keg like that unless they’re serving low carbonation beer?
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

It’s possible with a fowl control tap throttled right back.Jocky wrote:I always wondered how anyone manages to pour a beer properly with a tap connected direct to the keg like that unless they’re serving low carbonation beer?

Absolutely true. If you get chickens in your tap you've got real problems!!LeeH wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 7:36 amIt’s possible with a fowl control tap throttled right back.Jocky wrote:I always wondered how anyone manages to pour a beer properly with a tap connected direct to the keg like that unless they’re serving low carbonation beer?

Re: Taps that mount directly on AEB keg
I have not had any problem with my existing tap mounted directly on the outlet disconnect - I can dispense fizzy pilsner at 15 psi without foam. Is there a reason why I should be running beer down a pipe before it enters the tap? I can see reference to needing a few metres of pipe to create resistance - why is this needed and are there taps that have the necessary resistance? As you can see I'm fairly new to kegging - so thanks for any advice.

Re: Taps that mount directly on AEB keg
Just that normally the beer turns to foam the moment it leaves the tap as there’s not enough resistance to balance the pressure in the beer itself.
But if it works for you there is no arguing with that.
