Reusing a 20l bag in a box

Post by IHN » Sat Aug 15, 2020 6:15 pm

We got a 20l bag in a box from a local brewery for a camping trip, very nice it was too.

I'm wondering if I can reuse for holding and dispensing my homebrews. I can get the tap out, so washing and sterilising shouldn't be an issue. I'm thinking I wait until primary fermentation is done, then transfer the brew to the bag, unprimed (as I doubt the bag would take the CO2 pressure) , leave to condition, done?

Anyone done similar?

I prime my bag-in-boxes. Just keep them on their backs and open the tap when necessary to vent excess gas.

Used these years ago. No priming is good, then start drinking it if the bag blows up too much. If it's in a box then the box will take a lot of the pressure.

If you put the bag on its back then you'll have to wait a few days after you turn it over for it to settle before you can drink it
