Mini keg / growler silicone dip tube question

Post by floydmeddler » Mon Nov 09, 2020 7:45 am

Hi. Have just purchased a 10L mini keg / growler. Can anyone tell me what diameter of silicone tubing I need to use as the dip tube? Here's the tap dispenser that I bought:

Thanks in advance

Hey Pal. I have the link indicates that the barb is 5/16 inch. So this translates to around 8mm.

I would aim for silicone tubing with an internal diameter of 7-8 mm.

I've got a couple of these dispense lids. One with a smooth bit and what looks like a threaded section near the top as shown on your ebay link.

That has a diameter of 6mm on the smooth bit, obviously it's wider on the threaded bit, and I currently have a length of 5mm internal diameter silicone tube on it working fine.

The other one I have is barbed along the whole length and is 6.5mm diameter.

I think that 5/16" (outer diameter) beer line also fits well from memory as the internal diameter is just under 5.4mm.

I've just checked - 5/16" beer line is a tight fit, but it does fit. You can soften it up by sticking it in some hot water.
