Using Pint365 with 5 liter swing top bottle?

Post by Fr_Marc » Thu Apr 22, 2021 7:36 pm

Dear fellow homebrewers,

I have seen some video footage recently of using a Pint365 beer engine with a (vented) 5l party keg at home.

This made me wonder if it would work to connect the hose of the beer engine to one of my 5l swing top bottles of homebrew using a pierced rubber plug. This would be a great option of dispensing home brewed real ale for a little session.

What do you think? Would that work? I can't think of any big difference to connecting the Pint 365 to a party keg.

Cheers! Marc

A beer engine will draw out of a bucket, or any other vessel. The first beer I pulled through my beer engine was from a growler. A rubber bung isn’t necessary though because it will create a vacuum in the bottle.
Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.

Thanks for the advice! I will try it without the bung then!
