another clariry ferm question

Post by Rolfster » Sat Feb 07, 2015 4:14 pm

Is there an easy way to find out the gluten content of my beer? U have 2 fvs of the same beer. I added clarity ferm to one fv when adding the yeast then left them to do there thing for a bit before moving them to my fermentation tub. My wife then moved them out of the way of the washing machine so I have no idea which fv has the clarity fern in it!
I have learnt a lesson about marking my fvs in future!

Even labs have trouble measuring gluten levels so you can't tell that way. Clarity ferm was 1st used to eliminate chill haze so I guess try chilling them and see which is clearest.

Can you tell any difference in a side by side taste test?
I'm just here for the beer.

You can pay a lab to test a sample. Not cheap....

Could you just add another dose of clarityferm to them all?

I have seen blogs online where they had some admittedly home grade litmus style tests. The treated beer passed at both 5 and 10ppm.

I have got some myself now that I will try in the next few brews. Primarily to reduce chill haze but the reduction in gluten is a bonus.
