Whats the best lager kit?

How does lager differ in the fermentation process than ale? As I dont have a heater yet I'm considering making a batch of lager in the garage which I'm under the opinion of not need high temperatures to ferment. Are there any good pilsner kits out there and how long does it take to ferment/condition?

Thanks Daab. I'd best get that in the FV next as I expect even the unheated garage could be dropping below 8C throughout the night!
