will a taste develop?
will a taste develop?
hi im currently brewing for my first time and so far so good i transferred it to the keg yesterday and intend to leave it for 4 weeks before i get ratted on it. however, i have tried a small glass tonight and although the colour is good and the smell is there the taste is really quite bland and the beer lacks any real body. when the beer is allowed to condition will a stronger taste develop?its really watery at the moment!next time i will use a bit less water i think
if you got it down to 1010 then you're looking at about 4.6%.
Tooheys, I remember drinking that when I was working in Sydney Australia. It was a how shall I put it, ermmmmmm, refreshing rather than flavoursome.
But it will mature slightly in about 2 weeks time especially if you primed the barrel with some sugar.
Me I am usually at the dregs of the barrel at about week 5 and I didn't drink it all in the last week.
For me the second week of it being in the barrel you see an upturn in flavour week 3 it almost spot on week four your wishing you could have waited.
The next brew, you buy another barrel spend more than you would ever going out justifying to yourself that you would have brought 80 odd pints in that month at the pub anyway.
You still go out becuase it's not mature. When it has matured you sit in drink far more becuase you've worked out it's cheaper by 4x however you drink 6x more.
And around you go, and before you know it you
have 4 barrels 2 demijohns and another in 1st stage.
You spend a lot of time putting the glass upto your light in the kitchen thinking yes it's clearing nice.
It's all a con leave before you get draggged into it!!
