Right guys,
Not sure if this is in the right area but I have in my back garden a home bar that I built and have all the proper dispesing kit that the all public houses have ie cooler, taps, gas, keg
I buy my beer from a local firm as I do also with the gas.
What I want to know is
1. can I fill the keg up with home brew?? (seen on the internet how to open them up and succeeded so thats no problem).
2. Would I be able to prime directly in the keg??
3. How long would the homebrew last b4 dispensing the first pint and also after dispensing the first pint???
Also if you could let me know the possible advantages and dis-advantages of doing this, then that would really help.
Cheers

Yes! People do it here with Corney (Cornelius) kegs all the time...beesley121 wrote: 1. can I fill the keg up with home brew?? (seen on the internet how to open them up and succeeded so thats no problem).

Nothing short of a mutant, ninja nuclear yeast would overcome the contruction of a keg... Yes! You can also force prime your beer using the gas system.beesley121 wrote: 2. Would I be able to prime directly in the keg??
If you have a proper inert gas system as suggested in your orignal post the beer should last well for weeks, (some say 2 months although no brew has ever lasted this long for me), as there is little or no oxygen to promote souring. However, this is theoretical knowledge for me as I cask or bottle my beer.beesley121 wrote: 3. The main disadvantage is volume. A 9 gallon pin takes two standard plastic 4.5 gallon home brew bins to fill it enough for the charging to work. Things get worse the larger the keg. If you are brewing in bins the bigger the keg, the more likely a bad 4.5 gallon batch will ruin the entire caboodle!beesley121 wrote: Also if you could let me know the possible advantages and dis-advantages of doing this, then that would really help.
