Can a sweet brew be saved?

Post by barleymagrew » Wed Nov 28, 2007 8:41 pm

Guys,

Please help. I'm trying my hardest to get a decent brew, but am near giving up.

My latest has been nearly 2 weeks in the bin, transfered to barrel for a few days. Just tried it and its got a sweet taste!

I am going to have throw it away? It had definitley stopped fermenting before I barrelled it and I have followed the instructions to the letter.

Is there anything at all I can do to fix the sweetness.

Any help most gratefully received.

Hi BMG.

Could you give us a bit more information, e.g. what make and type of kit you made. Also the temperature you fermented at and whether you noticed any active fermentation during the 2 weeks.

Have you taken any specific gravity readings at all?

guys,

The kit is Woodfordes Admiral. It was bubbling everyday and I didnt syphon it out until it had absolutely stopped.

I am scrupulous with the sanitising

Temperature was just room which is around 20c

Daab,

How much yeast should I use. And do I then just leave it in?
