Brewmaker Cider
Brewmaker Cider
My Brewmaker cider is ready to barrel in a few days time. From reading through forum and advise I have been given it seems that everyone agrees that the finished cider will be very dry. I plan to add some wine sweetner at the same time as I barrel (is this is the correct time?). I prefer medium / dry ciders but feel that it will need a little boost of sweetner. I have purchased a 57ml bottle of Youngs Wine Sweetner. Question is how much approx should I add to the brew. I have brewed approx 40 pints. I have no idea at all of amount to put in. Thanks
All of the ciders I've done have finished in the region of 0.995-0.997, and have been very dry. Sweetening is pretty subjective, so it's hard to advise really, it has to be done to taste, as baldyjason says.
Be careful not to over sweeten, as it can't be undone - try to err on the side of dry, as some of the sourness will mellow out as the cider conditions.

homebrew ciders are extremely dry.The key is conditioning and patience.
I make them up to 32 pints with 1.8 kg of brewing sugar.brew for 12 days untill the sugar has completely worked out.barell and prime with 80 g of brewing sugar.then its the hard part of leaving it alone, about 8 weeks after this the dry taste will go and will be left with a slightly sweet perry.
