Aadmirals Reserve

Post by andyryan218 » Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:45 pm

Recently made my Admirals Reserve and on the box it says a steady reading within 24 hours below 1020, it got down to 1018 and stayed there. So, pushed for time I went and kegged it. I unfortunately had no choice as i had to leave for work the next day. Will the brew be ok?? I wont be able to sample for another six weeks anyway.

It was getting clearer as the week went by. Why does the manufacturer advise a reading of 1020?? Is there a method of working it out??

Thanks DaaB

I initially intended to leave it for a full ten days as you advise.

I will be sure to use your method for fg in future for my kits.

What are your feelings the finished product will be like??

Cheers

If I remember correctly when I did this kit in December I got to around the same gravity as you and it tastes great!

I too was surprised at the final gravity but its certainly not sweet. Maybe the high sugars balances the extra bitterness from the hop extract that is added. I wouldn't worry TBH.
