HI EVERYONE NEW KIT BREWER HERE

Post by BIGTRACTOR » Fri May 26, 2006 7:39 pm

Hello everyone, and many thanks to daft as a brush who pointed me in this direction from the wineandbeermaking forum. there is certainly a lot more brewing - specific info here.

especially loved the kit instructions - what they dont tell you. will certainly be paying heed to these.

i have recently put my brupak fixby gold into my newly aquired to top king keg (using 80grams brewers sugar ), unfortunately, as the instructions did not tell me otherwise, :( i simply opened the fermenting bin tap and poured it from about 3 foot into the keg !!!!! :o which i now know was a major mistake, (i also didnt wash can opener when opening kit and sucked on syphon hose (which i gather aint so bad for winemaking but not good for beer  )

which all adds up to me not expecting too much of this first brew ! but i'm sure i will still drink it! ;) however, i will not get disheartened , which i probably would have done had i not read through this forum - so i will be buying a new brupak kit in next week or so, and will be following all the advice i can glean on these pages!

in the process of getting an adapted aquarium heater (because temp varies in our house a bit), and some half inch clear pipe to fit over fermenter tap, to stop splashing. will also get my own can opener !!

cheers :D

Welcome to the forum BigTractor.

Don't fret about your brew, I'm sure it will turn out just fine; I have done much worse things with brews in the past and they were still very drinkable. To mix some metaphors, Good things come to those who wait; perfection takes a little longer... ;) :D

Hi Big Tractor, glad to see you found your way over here!

Shouldn't worry about your first brew too much, it should still be very drinkable and if you do have any off tastes, they will probably only be in the background and just annoying if anything else! :)

I used the Brupaks kits a lot before I moved on to all grain brewing, and if you follow the points that DAAB produced, as well as his instructions for Brupaks kits, you will produce an excellent beer.

I think the Brupaks range are amoung the best!

Hi BT.

The best kit I ever tried was Coopers IPA. As mentioned, Brupaks seem to be a favourite aswell. Keep reading forums like these and you'll be producing great beer in no time.

With your king keg top tap, make sure that the tap part is screwed in as tight as you can get it. It causes major headaches when it isn't, trust me.
