My Admirals reserve has gone awry, and now has a distinct aroma & flavour of celery . This is only 2.5 weeks into conditioning (having a sneak preview) but it definately aint right.
Did some searches but cant find this as a side efect of any infection - anyone ever had this/know what it is?
Interesting read, Escherichia is one of the families of bacteria that can cause the celery-like taint - the most well known member of this family is E. Coli.
Nearly everyone has e coli in their bodies. It's unusual for coliforms to be a problem in beer unless you take a long time to cool the beer and you don't pitch enough yeast. You do sometime see them in the early stages of spontaneous fermented beers (Lambics for example) but they die off pretty quick in those too.
