geordie lager
geordie lager
just got a geordie lager in the fv, used 100g light dme and 250g brew sugar, got a starting reading of 1048 at 25deg
just tried a wee taste from the fermentor of my geordie lager and i must say it tastes a bit thin, theres no flavour or body to it it seems to have finished at around 1015, the instructions say it will get down to 1005, has anyoe experienced any problems with these sticking or is it just me, not too keen on the taste though, although this could be down to the quality of the kit

Re: geordie lager
Could this not be your problem. I was under the impression that more fermentables needed to be added that that, although you did get a reasonable hydrometer reading. I used a Geordie Lager kit as a starter for one of my whitelab yeasts . . . FWIW I though it had quite a bit of flavour certainly lager like (although I only made it up to 15L with no added fermentables . . .I like hoppy beers anyway), it's certainly more like a lager than the Current Coopers Bavarian Pilsner, which is certainly less bitter and thinner than my geordie . . . . but I made that up to 6 gallons and added 500g LME and 1Kg Muntons Beer Kit Enhancerpongobilly wrote:used 100g light dme and 250g brew sugar, got a starting reading of 1048 at 25deg
