Hey all,
im going away for a break camping as of next thurs for 7 days..
Im meeting up with some friends and they are expecting me to bring some homebrew down so they can try and see what i rave about.
Here's my dilemna, Ive got 30 pints of pressurized and excellent Nelsons revenge on its 2nd week conditioning and its just about clear and pretty much what i want too advertise (its tasting nice!)...
How do i transport it?.. i dont want to take the barrel so was hoping to use poly's or PET bottles??.
Im not taking all, only a taster (15 pints maybe) but, is it possible to ( re-prime)??????
like add a t-spoon of sugar to the 2litre bottles if was to transfer to bottles tommorow 3 days before journey?..or do i transfer the day before and just hope the ale dont go too flat.
Can you re-prime if there is such a thing?, how can i get it down as best poss without taking the barrel?..
BTW...ive got some TC thats traveling too for a "taster"....lol...maybe the suckers wont be bothered anyway!
Any help appreciated..
Doughie..
Transporting brew...
If you have a widget world gas bottle and adapter, they come with the necessary fittings to re-gas a standard pet bottle. I bought one a few weeks ago and I wouldn't be without one now. Basically, you mature your beer in the barrel then if you want to take some to a party or whatever you fill your pet bottle, use the (three) supplied caps which allow you to re-gas the bottle and hey presto, fresh beer, no sediment and quite cheap. If you don't have any c02 bottles have a look at a car boot sale for someone selling an old soda stream and refill the bottle. I got one for £1 then refilled for around a fiver.
Failing that, if you need lots of beer, i.e. a full barrel, the only couple of ways to do it are 1 - a cornie or 2 take your barrel and store for a few days to settle.
