Home Brew Virgin - bought a woodfordes microbrewery

Post by Bionicmunky » Mon May 12, 2008 2:55 pm

Hello all,

I bought a woodfordes microbrewery kit and am 2.5 weeks in.

I admit I bought it as it looked easy and hadn't found this site.

I have just moved it from my lounge where it sat at between 22-25c for two weeks, to the cupboard under the stairs 8-10c.

I followed the instructions precisely and it smells fine (lots of gas in the keg) tastes ok, but is still very very cloudy.

Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

p.s. after doing some reading on here I will be investing in a primary brewing bin etc.

Did you brew it in the keg then?

Yeah beer can take 3 - 4 weeks to clear. Even if it was crystal bright the move may have lifted some sediment back into suspension so it may be a few days after that.

Aye, brewed in the keg.

Although further reading on here has got me kicking myself.

Well I'll leave another week and see how it goes.

hmmmmm. Decided to try a pint when I got home.

It's cleared quite a bit and is, dare I say it. Rather nice.

Must try and leave it sitting but sooooo hard!

I've a huge shed at the bottom of my garden that is begging to be made into a brewhut! What have I let myself in for!
