Have had beer in barrel for 7 days now, having transfered from bin after primary fermentation, and have found that the lid of my KK top tap has not sealed properly. Tested from tap to find v.little pressure, but some pressure was there. Beer tasted OK but was flat. I have ordered a new lid tonight, will be here in 2/3 days, as thread on lid has gone. Will beer be OK after new lid is on, will I have to re-gas and/or add more sugar to prime barrel?????????????
HELP PLEASE!!!!
Is the beer ruined??????????
HELP! PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doubt the beer is ruined.. Did you put vaseline on the rubber seal and threads of the the kk lid?
If not, do that. As long as you don't disturb the CO2 blanket covering your beer you should probably be ok.
After you've slarted the lid with vaseline, re gas it with a co2 bottle and see if it's still leaking. You should hear a hissing sound if you listen really carefully?

Have you got a lid spanner? They're only a couple of quid it might be worth buying one and giving it a good old heave to tighten it?
If push comes to shove you might try putting vaseline on the threads inside the cap too? I usually put so much on that the threads are filled completely.
Ultimately the plastic barrels just aren't that good really

Would PTFE on the threads help?
Litany For Beer
I must drink the Beer.
Beer is the mind-killer.
Beer is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my Beer.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the Beer has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

I have a rotokeg that refused to seal properly . . . . these were in the days when Rotokegs and premium barrels were properly made, and there was no danger of damaging the threads on a 4! cap or barrel at all. . . . I simply bought another O ring added that over the original one and the barrel sealed with no problems. . . . its worth a try.
And no you beer will not suffer if the barrel is capped, you have a layer of CO2 on the beer, as long as you don't remove the cap, and blow into the barrel and disturb that you will have no problems . . . If you do remove the cap a piece of cling film or aluminium foil over the hole will prevent the ingress of nasties until you replace the cap.
