When To Pressurize Barrel??

Post by drink-owt-me » Mon Jul 14, 2008 7:49 pm

Hi, just about to transfer first batch of homebrew edme lager, to a pressure barrel, and wondered do i pressurize the barrel now as soon as i've transferred the lager or at a later date. If later how long before i pressurize it. I'll be using the small disposable Co2 bulbs.
many thanx in advance

As your making a lager I would pressurize it now. If it were an ale I would leave it a day or so before serving, depending on whether you like a slightly fizzy ale or not. If your priming it with sugar then I wouldn't bother unless you want to try some now (in which case it may be a bit sweet).

Hi thanx for that, according to the lager istructions, it has to be left for 14 days before drinking, so i will pressurize it now and wait patiently!!!
