Well I bottled this stout yesterday, and had a quick taste as I was doing so. Considering it aint ready yet it tastes fine.
I posted to ask if anyone had made one in case there was anything I should know before bottling. The destructions called for 30 heaped teaspoons of sugar for priming, way too much I thought, so I cut it right down. To 28 (well, I like my stout sweet anyway). Boiled it up with some water, cooled it, then dropped it into the second fermenter and give it a good stir. The exciting bit was using a capper. Oh yes, I'm moving into professional territory now. Not all 2 ltr PET bottles with this one. Some were proper glass brown efforts. Making it I didn't deviate too much - 750g brewers sugar, 300g dark brown sugar, 1 brupaks flavapack - and I made it up to 22 litres. Think I'll leave it a couple of months before trying it. We'll see what it's like when it's ready.

Couldn't resist opening a 2 ltr bottle of this on Saturday night. Wish I hadn't. Tasted fine, proper roast malt followed by a sweet aftertaste, similar to a sweeter version of Beamish Stout from what I remember. It's me and my sudden inability to handle drink. After just the 2 litres I felt well on the way. I then had 2 litres of my Geordie Scottish Export. And that was it. Peshed. Yesterday I felt terrible all day. Proper good old fashioned hangover. Fortunately no nausea, but a bollocks of a bad head, tired, listless, and just washed out. Still feel a bit crap today. Still, the beer was good.

So the Scottish Export was good too then? I have that conditioning just now.

Oh yes. Bloody fantastic if I say so meself. That's the trouble, the Scottish Export was the first kit I tried when I got back into this game. Now I want to try loads of others (especially knowing that all Vina based kits are fast disappearing) but I'm worried that nothing will taste as good!
