Vina Traditional Stout

Post by e-brewer » Sat Aug 23, 2008 11:25 pm

Hi All
Well i was away from home for the day sooth of the border and i have been trying to get another beer kit.

so whilst taking the wife shopping i just happened to pass a Hb retailer..

Sadly i fancied another tin of coopers dark ale but it was out of stock.

So i wound up buying two tins of John Bull Masterclass Porter.

and

two tins of Vina traditional stout .

Any body got any pointers about these kits ..I had planned to use dark spraymalt with the vina stout and the porter says it doesnt need any other sugar/malt?

i was also told that both these kits are now unavailable as they are no longer being produced thats probably why they were rather cheaper than i expected..

i like a wee bargain even the wife said you might as well get two at these prices.

Thanks for any help..

ps the coopers dark ale made with dark spraymalt and barreled under widget mixed gas is lovely.

That sounds like a good plan for the Stout, and the Masterclass kits don't need any sugar/malt added as you say. Everything you need is in the 3Kg can.

The Vina Stout is another kit made by Diamalt, I would guess it would be something similar to the John Bull single can Stout, which made a perfectly good beer. You could add a few hops, by dry hopping or by the 'hop tea' method, fuggles are a good choice for stouts. Having said that, I find that stout kits usually turn out pretty good without too much tinkering.
