Bottling in 2l PET bottles

Will it be ok to add 2 teaspoons of sugar to a 2l bottle or would you normally add a little less (I don't like heavily carbonated beer!)

Thanks in advance

2l is roughly 4 pints, so 2 teaspoons to each pet bottle would be about 1/2 tspn per pint - which is perfectly OK for a moderate level of carbonation.

Yep, that's ideal for ales.

My (very) rough rule of thumb for 2L PETs is...

2tsp - normal level of carbonation
3tsp - good level of carbonation, ideal if you are decanting before serving
4tsp - high level of carbonation for lagers - will need a few hours in the fridge before opening.

was watching rory mcgrath last night and he was bottling, but when he added the priming sugars to the bottle and then added the beer, he then shook the bottle to dissolve the sugars.

does this not ruin the beer?????

the yeast in the bottle will eat up the oxygen added by shaking, I always add sugar cap then shake and have had no problems
