Raspberry/strawberry beer

Post by randomdave » Fri Sep 26, 2008 1:03 pm

Next week should (all been well) see me start my first ever attempt at home brewing. Ive decided to start of simple and get a kit an make a stout or lager (as where im brewing can be cooler more often than not)

One thing that I would like to do after this is earn some brownie points with the missus. Shes not overly thrilled with my making beer, altho when Im not spending so much money im sure she will be chuffed. So to earn some brownie points id like at some point to knock her up some raspberry or strawberry beer. Shes a fan of fruli and the belgium one, cant remember the name.

So question is, can i buy that in kit form? Can i just add something to an existing kit? as i say it should certainly earn my some points an stop her moaning too much

Cheers

brewferm's framboos kit should be a pretty good clone of the belgian one. I haven't done it so I can't say how good it really is. Maybe someone else has some first hand experience

The Brewferm Framboos is supposed to be very good, and also the Kriek cherry one too.

I reckon I could earn some brownie points from OH for having a crack at the Kriek... :-k

I have dont the brewferm frambois kit very rasberry as well my misses likes it. It cleared in the FV pretty much as well so no worries on that bit. It has so far had 2 weeks in a corney a few more and it should be properly ready for her.....

not good the brewferm framboos even after extensive maturation, just very thin with only a hint of raspberrys but the brewferm abbey with candi sugar is very very good

How much water did you use ? As the one that is maturing in the garage at the moment is very rasberry tasting and has a good body to it !

So long as it dont taste like cat piss an tastes of raspberry beer im sure she will be happy. Something close to Timmermans ive been told after discussing it with her will suffice

I was drinking Fruli last Sunday afternoon.

Admittedly I'd had nine and a half pints of good beer already... but it was still quite nice!
