Hello
Fairly new to home brew & am slowly working through Woodfordes & Munton beer kits.
Very impressed with all the kits made so far.
I usually use sugar when transferring the beer to the barrel.
I have bought some beer kit enhancer, the kit says to use it instead of sugar.
My question is do I use the same amount of enhancer as I would sugar?
Also does the beer kit enhancer really make much difference to the beer?
Regards
Dave
beer enhancer kit
Re: beer enhancer kit
Yes, use exactly the same amount.almeidauk wrote:My question is do I use the same amount of enhancer as I would sugar?

BKE is half sugar, and half Spraymalt (dried malt extract). For priming, it makes little or no difference as the amount you are adding is relatively small. Most brewers just use table sugar or brewer's sugar for priming, but you can certainly use BKE if you wish.
However, when making up a single can beer kit, the ones where you have to add 1Kg of sugar into the fermenter, substituting 1Kg of BKE will improve the results quite a bit.
Better still, for ales, is to use 100% Spraymalt instead of the sugar.

That's right.almeidauk wrote:I have to be honest I have been very happy with the beer I have produced where I have used sugar. Thought I would try the kit to see if it made a difference.
I will try the spraymalt on my next ale kit (I take it that I use the same amount of spraymalt as i would Sugar).
I you're making 3Kg kits like the Woodefordes, you'll only use it for priming in the keg/bottle, and you can use any type of sugar, spraymalt or enhancer.
Spraymalt really comes into it's own when making up a single can kit.
