Bottling question

Another newby question Im afraid

My Dad started a beer kit about 6 weeks ago (cant remember what beer kit he said it was). After the primary fermentation was finnished, he transfered it into a budget pressure barrel with 85g sugar. It carbed up nicely and tastes great, but now it is starting to loose its carbonation, so he is going to buy a lid for the keg with the Injector that allows Co2 bulbs to carb it back up again.

What he wants to know is this - Once he has used the co2 gas to carb up the beer, is it Ok to bottle some of the beer?, He has decided he wants to store some for a later date if possible and get cracking on with his next brew.

Cheers again
Dave :D

If it was me, I'd fill the bottles with flat beer and reprime with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar for each pint bottle(if you just fill the bottle from the pressurised keg it will end up a bit flat).

I've done this before to save the dregs from a keg, and it does work. You need to be extra careful to exclude air when transferring to the bottle, though, so use a bottling stick from the tap of the barrel.
NURSE!! He's out of bed again!
