Been dithering a bit deciding on my next kit and quite fancy the above. I`ve not found much info on this particular kit apart from on the Coopers website. I was wondering if anyone on here had brewed it and what they thought of it. I do like the Coopers and the IPA is a favourite but don`t fancy it for a third time.
Any opinions anyone? Any recommendations on how to improve it and/or dry hop ideas.
Coopers Sparkling
Re: Coopers Sparkling
I've made this several times, and I'm supping one now.
The Sparkling Ale is not dissimilar to the Cooper's IPA, but it turns out quite a bit stronger. The intructions recommend you add 1.5Kg of liquid malt extract, 500g light spraymalt and 300g glucose. I usually substitute a further 1Kg of spraymalt for the LME, that's 1.5Kg in total, plus the glucose. It also turn out well with less fermentables if you don't want the strength. I quite liked it when I added a substantial amount of Saaz hops, but it's a style which lends itself to a variety of light ale hops.
It's a beer that takes a long time to reach it's best, best left alone for several months...

Re: Coopers Sparkling
Sheeesh ! Several months to mature. Its bad enough looking at the Diabolo every day that was bottled 2 weeks ago and should be ready in December. I think I`ll go for it anyway, I like a strongish ale as it`ll last longer and I`ve been toying with the idea of trying a liquid yeast. I just need to choose the right one and read up on the best way to use it.
Thanks fellas.

Re: Coopers Sparkling
This sounds quite interesting.......
That's quite a heap of fermentables isn't it?
I should have a go at a strong ale, I tend to keep mine a bit lower, around 5% max.
