Hi Guys,
I bottled my ale 2 weeks ago and it has been sitting in a warm room, around 18 deg.
I stuck one in the fridge on sunday to try out with my mam and while it tasted ok and was very clear it didn't have any fizz!
The fermenting stage went fine, i syphoned it into a second fv once the reading settled. I left that there to clear and then transfered it into bottles using i tea spoon per bottle.
So what did i do wrong?
Em
No fizz
Re: No fizz
How long did you leave it in the 2nd fv to clear for?
If you left it long enough it may be that all the yeast fell out of suspension. It's yeast in suspension that reacts with the teaspoon of sugar you add to create the fizz. No yeast plus sugar = sweet flat beer

Re: No fizz
Marts right. It's a difficult balancing act trying to get a perfectly clear ale, with a good bit of fizz. This is the mistake I've made on a couple of brews. Not only did I leave as much sediment behind as possible when transferring to the secondary, but then I've left my brew in that for a few days to drop some more. When bottling time came guess what? I was very careful not to get any sediment in the bottles. Result being that even though the brews were well primed they're pretty lifeless. You live and learn. And if you're like me you tell everyone that the beer is meant to be as flat as that
