Can you leave it too long before priming + conditioning?

This latest Brew is causing me all sorts of problems :? ... and I appologise for the continued questions as things go wrong!

Its in the Bucket... and 1st fermentation has finished. It has been 9 days. What has held me up is trying to fix the leak on the Barrel destined for the priming and conditioning for this Ale.

I have sorted it today but won't have the new lid until Friday. That will be 13 days.

I have the option tommorow to Bottle if I must but would much rather it go in the Barrel, especially as I do not have much confidence in this brew due to earlier problems and don't want to waste time on it.

So... what should I do? Is it good to leave or should I bottle now!... I have read that it can be worth mixing in some of the slurry into the barrel to aid priming as yeast may have settled. I guesse this would be especially true after 13 days if I leave it.

Appreciate the advice and continued help... and as always very thankful to the members who read these novice posts and spend the time replying! Does this forum have any function to "thank" or "add rep" to these souls =D> ?

As for the original brew, it is now completely clear and going down well!! I do recomend the cheapie Hamilton Bard are doing now (£6.99!!). and this was with brewing sugar. Certainly well worth a go for anyone just starting at that price as nothing to lose. I'm only sweating now as this last brew cost me £15 with the spray malt  !

As you are talking of having this in what I guess is primary fermentation for 13 days I would wait and keg it at the weekend.

I agree with Alton_Bee, just wait. Even if something happened and your new lid didn't arrive until a week on Friday it would still be fine. Sometimes things going wrong can force us homebrewers into the ancient art of patience :)
