Help to increase alkalinity

Post by dallse » Sun Nov 09, 2008 5:07 pm

My next brew is going to be a Brewers Choice Black Country Mild. After reading some posts I know my waters alkalinity is 24. (thanks aleman)

I have some Calcium Chloride flakes, DLS, and a free sample of what i think is 5.2 ph stabilizer, given to me by the chap in the homebrew shop. He said it is a water buffer and will help stabilize the ph if i pop it in with the grains. (sounds good)!

My targets from the Brupaks site:
Mild Ale. Alkalinity as CaC03 - 100 to 150 p.p.m. Calcium - 90 to 110 p.p.m.

Can I just use the DLS to increase the alkalinity? and the Calcium Chloride to increase the calcium content for the liquor.
Not sure how much of each to use or do I need some other ingredients Too?

Any advice appreciated

Forgot to add... I have some CRS but I don't think I need to use this as I don't need to reduce alkalinity. Am I correct?
