Hi All
as some of you may have read I had my Wherry kit in a king keg, but its got a leak somewhere and hasn't got any pressure (even after using the CO2 cylinder). So I am planning on transferring from the keg into bottles to save the brew then I can hunt for leak at my leisure. My question is will there be enough yeast active still for secondary fermentation in the bottles? The keg had been at room temp for a week and in the garage for a week before I found the leak
My plan was to rouse the yeast in the keg add a second amount of sugar for secondary fermentation (tertiary fermentation I guess) and the syphon it off into bottles and leave at room temp for another week. Is this going to work?
was planning on doing this tonight so any advice this afternoon would be gratefully received
Thanks for any help

re-bottling after keg failure
Re: re-bottling after keg failure
I had a keg of Emde Yorkshire Bitter spring a leak on me. Once I discovered it I managed to seal it and move the keg back to the warm for 3 or 4 days and hey presto it was re-pressurised. In fact I'm supping a pint of it right now. Rather good too.
Re: re-bottling after keg failure
In the end I didn't add any extra yeast (didn't have any) but gave the keg a good stir and added some more sugar then transferred it to bottles. Glad I did. Tried a bottle of it last night, although not ready yet as only had 4 days secondary fermentation - it tasted rather good
. Had put some into a plastic bottle as well and its gone semi-rigid so I guess there must have been enough live yeast to ferment.
As for the keg I've identified the leak its not from the lid as expected but from the seal around the tap - filled the keg with 12L of fizzy water re-vaselined the lid and gave it a good shake. Opened the tap and water shot out, closed the tap and got an annoying hissing sound
, so rubbed a bit of fairy liquid around all the seals and got some nice bubbles from around the tap. Will disassemble it all next weekend, clean it and try and assemble it without any leaks.
