NEWBIE - Priming Question

Post by chrisab » Tue Dec 09, 2008 11:54 am

Hi all,

I've just started my first homebrew - Woodfordes Wherry. I am just about to move it into the pressure barrel and have bought some Geordies Beer Enhancer from wilkos. The kit instructions say a teaspoon of suger per liter to prime, can I substitute this with the same quantity of the beer enhancer? is it worth it although if i can use it i will as i can't be bothered going to the shop again.

Also I need to fill up about three bottles worth for the bloke i borrowed the equipment off, shall i mix it all in the barrel and syphon it to the bottles or just prime the bottles individually?

Thanks for any help :)
Chris

you could if you wanted to but TBH its a bit of an expensive way to prime, I just use normal sugar to prime. When priming its to give the carbonation and not flavour. Standard brewing sugar would do the same and is cheaper. Brew enhancer is 50% brew sugar and 50% dried spraymalt.
