Frothy Head advice

Post by ians2 » Sat Dec 13, 2008 12:49 pm

I have a Milestone kit in a King Keg flavour is great...apart from it is all head and you need to keep letting it settle and then contine to pour out (I am using a sprinkler tap). My question is.. is this because there is too much preasure in the barrel and can I crack the lid, let out some pressure and re-seal or even let all the pressure out and then top up with some C02.

Any advice appreciated.

I think the problem with king kegs and other pressure barrels is there is very little head space when full so all that CO2 hasn't much room and so develops to quite a high pressure. You should find that as you slurp it and make some more room at the top of the barrel you start to get a better pour from the tap. Another thing I found out by trial was "not to open the tap a tiny amount to slow it down, but to open the tap fully in one quick turn" Try this when the initial high pressure has subsided a bit.

Happy drinking
