Hello gents,
I started my first brew - Wherry on the 5th Jan. It has been at a constant temperature of 21 degrees C and after 11 days has reached 1.015 on the hyrdometer.
The airlock is still bubbling away (although it has def slowed down). Should i wait until it gets to 1.010 or do you think its ready for the keg.
Thanks for for your advise in advance.

If it gets down that far...i would think that 1.015 is fine for kegging thoughBlade wrote:Should i wait until it gets to 1.010 or do you think its ready for the keg.

Re: First Brew - Wherry
The main thing is to get the same hydrometer reading 2-3 days straight, then keg/bottle it. If it's 1015 in a day or two it's time to keg

Re: First Brew - Wherry
My first brew was a Wherry and it took a while to get down to it's fg of 1014, the all malt kits have a higher fg than when using sugar. I would leave it a couple more days if it's still bubbling, but you don't want to leave it too long on the dead yeast. As fayed said it's about waiting for fermentation to finish. After leaving it for about a month it was a very nice drink!
Re: First Brew - Wherry
Ah yes i clean forgot to say about making sure it's at a steady reading for a couple days

Re: First Brew - Wherry
Thanks all.
I have heard of the stories about Wherry getting stuck. I will take a reading Sunday and if its static then I will move to the keg.
Thanks for all your advice - excellent stuff

It's only a stuck fermentation if it's above 1.020 and you're not far off the final expected SG for a Wherry which is 1.014.Blade wrote:Thanks all.

I agree that you should leave it a couple more days after checking the SG on a daily basis.
