Youngs Cider Kit

Post by robbo79 » Fri Jan 23, 2009 5:27 pm

Hi All,
I started my 1st cider brew last friday, just wondered if all is how it should be. Unlike lager there was no crust formed on the top is this normal for cider?

Also the hydrometer reading has come down but kit says it should get to .998 and currently its at 1.003

remember the temp of the brew before you read your reading...as this can affect the reading

Most yeasts tend to produce a "krausen" head but some can do this overnight and then by the morning it's gone so you end up thinking "what's going on?". Don't worry too much, it's probably fine, just leave it for ten days in the primary then bottle or keg it.
