heres a question for you then
with the recent cold spell, im finding it difficult to keep the temp in my fv constant.
i have a fishtank heater in and its wrapped in an old quilt, but the temp can go from 22 in the day down to 18/19 overnight.
does the temp drop not have a negative impact on fermentation?
ive also got edme german and youngs brewbuddy lagers in secondary, but with the temp dropping to 14/15 overnight where ive got them,
will this stop secondary ferment or will it start up again when it warms up?
hot and cold...
Re: hot and cold...
Fluctuating temperatures do have an impact on the beer, some notice it more than others, basically you can end up with "fruity" flavours in the beer especially if the yeast gets too hot.
Assuming your using ale yeast for the lagers then yes the yeast will probably start up again once warm although you would be best off getting some sort of temp control sorted out for them.

Re: hot and cold...
Your primary temperature fluctation is probably OK. A few degrees outside that range and you may get problems, either with flavour or with your yeast deciding it's sick of all the abuse and hiding/sleeping somewhere.
Your secondary temperatures will be fine I think.
