Should be ready today but........

Post by bluewire » Wed Feb 04, 2009 10:22 pm

It has a flat taste to it.

The larger has been outside under cover for the past 14 days to finish off.

When it comes out of the keg (Not a K Keg) it comes out with a quite bit of presure and forms a good head but it does not last too long.

Could it be that it is not quite ready or has something gone wrong?

This is my first brew and I have not got a clue.

Thanks

Ian

Well being a one can kit as per...

http://www.homebrew4u.co.uk/homebrew-be ... r-40pt.asp

...I am assuming you have been asked to add quite a lot of sugar which won't help with mouth feel or head retention.

Try light spray malt or light malt extract for better results in these areas next time. ;)

Check out http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/ingredients_extract.htm for more details.

Is that as a replacement for sugar at both fermenting periods?

Hi,

Next time try bottling your lager. I think you'll find the results better than barreling it.

As above, bottling lagers is the only way to go. The kegs cannot hold enough pressure where as bottles (2ltr pop bottles are ideal) can.
