hello fellow kit junkies!
i am after a bit of advice. i am in persuit of a bright clear, fizzy lager. i thought i cracked this on my last go:
i brewed beer as normal, added youngs finings and left for 5 days
then transfered to 2nd bucket, added isonglass and put in a cold place for a week
then transfered again into another bucket
the result of this was great! the clearest beer i have ever produced but when i added the priming sugar i found that there was no yeast left to process the sugar, i had taken it all out!
the only remmedy to this problem i believe is to buy a k-keg with a c02 cartridge slot. but then the problem is i cannot refridgerate and drink beer cold as is too big for the fridge.
do you think i can maybe pour out from k-keg with a co2 cartridge and bottle, will this keep it fizzy? or is there a better solution??
any answers greately appreciated.
ShnOOdleS.

Re: lager kit finings/fizz boggle
How about using a sodastream to carbonate your drink?
For the future, you can allow the beer to settle (whilst carbonating) in your King Keg.

Drinking - Young's Harvest Bitter
Conditioning - Coopers Australian Lager
Re: lager kit finings/fizz boggle
yeah, i looking into soda stream or equivelant now, i heard there can be a weird aftertaste with that?
i still thrown between possably buyin a k-keg (will it keep the fizz if i bottle it from the keg?) or soda thing, or any other way??

Re: lager kit finings/fizz boggle
yeah, i had a very big think and i will probably go for the soda stream as i cant garuntee that i can pour fizzy lager from a KKTT into PET bottles and keep the fizz as well as soda stream.
If any1 has any experiance with this i would be gratefull for some info, if i wasnt worried about a cold lager i would definetely get a KK.

Re: lager kit finings/fizz boggle
A simple way to do it would just be to add some more yeast with the priming sugar!
Or.....you could go to the point of no return and buy a Cornelius keg and acquire a C02 gas bottle. That way you can carbonate your lager as high as you want with no worries. Corny kegs are good for up to 100psi.

Re: lager kit finings/fizz boggle
Corney kegs are the way to go for clear, fizzy lager.
Allows you to control level of carbonation to get it how fizzy you prefer.
It is an expensive initial outlay and very addictive so beware.
