flat lager

Post by decdee » Fri Feb 06, 2009 4:17 pm

fellow brewers,

i recentley have had 2 lager kits (coopers european and Cooper's Mexican Cerveza). both were brewed to the kit instructions, cleared nicely but had no fizz to them whatsoever. got the down to the FG. i used 1/2 light spray malt and brewing sugar. kept them in the warmth for a week then out in the cold for 3 weeks.
has anybody had this problem or found a solution to overcome it????

thanks in advance
d

I had exactly the same problem with the last lager I made; John Bull. Primed at 1/2 tsp per pint, crown capped the bottles in exactly the same fashion as I always do.

Flat as a pancake; ended up drinking it half-and-half with lemonade to make it passable.

No problem though, not being a great lager drinker I now don't make lager.
