I want to experiment with a couple of kits but rather than ruin 40 pints I want to only risk half. I have 2 FVs but am trying to work out the most effective way to split the fermentation into 2 FVs. I guess I could just pour half the tin into each and measure the sugar but its the yeast I am worried about. Any tips on spliting this or is the answer just to use a spare yeast.
I am thinking of trying to do the following:
Add honey to a lager or light ale
Add coffee to a stout, probably coopers stout
Any advise or experience in this area?

Re: Splitting a kit into 2 FVs
If i were you I'd mix up the kit as normal in 1 Bucket then using either a sterilized jug or simply just pour half your bucket into another bucket...
Mix up a yeast starter with some spray malt and get that going a few hours earlier or the day before and pour half in each FV (or just use 2 sachets of yeast)
This is what I'm going to do with my next kit, maybe have an 'as-is' bucket and a 'tweaked' bucket, so I can see what effect my tweaking has had.
