Flat Woodfords Wherry

Post by craigmtc » Thu Feb 26, 2009 3:06 pm

I brewed a Woodfords Wherry, surpisingly with no problem reaching required FG. I kegged it in a new King Keg with priming sugar a week gone Monday.

I tried the tap this Monday and nothing ahppended totally flat. Screwed off the KK lid and there was no gas at all.

Is there anything I can do, or should I just throw it away.

Cheers

I would re-vaseline the lid and O ring, checking that the O ring is in place. Screw tight (hand tight plus a quarter turn) and then gas up.

Check in 2-3 hours that there is still pressure in the keg by squeezing the rubber band on the valve and you should rescue it.

Thanks for your reply. If it's OK then should I leave it in the warm of move to cold for conditioning. Also how do I tell if it's infected?

I have to admit I forgot to to petroleum jelly round the lid!

Cheers

Leave it in a temperature 10-14C. Should be OK since there will still be some CO2 on the surface but not enough to discharge the beer.

Use plenty of vaseline! KK's are a right pain in the a**e when they don't seal.

Thanks lillywhite. How long should I leave it there before moving in to the cold?

Can't believe it, this was in my second KK bought three weeks go used for the first time. It turn's out the tap needed tightning, which I did. I then added the gas, and Keg went of shape "round at the bottom". I did listed and feel to see if the pressure valve was releaseing gad in betrween each squirt, of which I did around three.

Has anybody heard of this happening with King Keg's, and chance I will get a replacement?
