Hi,

Iv got abarrel of Wherry which fermented down to 1010 and one of Muntons misers Gold (FG 1012)

Iprimed them with 80g spray malt

They hae been conditioning etc for 5 weeks. Good flavour etc but LOTS of fizz... I was hoping for a more smove pint...like in a pub... where did i go wrong?...

Sounds to me like you over primed for your tastes. Try 60g SM next time. If you want to lower the level of c02, crack the lid, just enough to hear gas escape then tighten it back up. Keep doing this 'till your satisfied with the results. Bear in mind that the beer will have c02 in suspension so it may take a day or so for the c02 to equalise within the keg. Be careful not to allow any outside air to glug back through the tap too

It would be far easier to move the rubber band on the pressure release valve to reduce the excess pressure.
I personally hate wasting all that precious CO2 that has built up. The pressure will soon start to drop when you've drunk a few pints. :D
