Re-pitched a stuck brew. Now what?
Re-pitched a stuck brew. Now what?
My Munton's Smuggler's Special stuck at 1020. I've just re-pitched with a pack of safale 04. My question is now, how long should it take to work? What length of time should I wait before I take another SG reading, and if nothing's changed, do I just go ahead and bottle after a couple of days for instance?

hi jerry
assuming youve already roused the yeast back into suspension, and added a teaspoon of yeast nutrient,
id be inclined to leave it alone til next weekend myself and let it do its thing.

Thanks chaps. I guess all I can do is wait a few days, with crossed fingers, and then just go ahead and bottle anyway.

Well it's dropped to 1017 and stopped again. So I guess that's it.
Not sure I understand why it won't carbonate Chris - doesn't the added priming sugar give the yeast something to feed on. Or am I missing the point completely?
I haven't got any dry beer enzyme and the brew's been in the fermenter 2 weeks now, by the time I get some through the post it'll likely have been in there 3 weeks - is that pushing it a bit too far?
Can I just bottle and take a chance?
