I use 80 grams dissolved in water and simmered for a bit, added to barrell first and left too cool. Conditioned 40 pint bitter kits nicely for me (Coopers and Wherry). 80 grams is what I've read on several guides.

The recommendation for priming sugar for barrels has always been 3 imperial ozs, or 85 grams, ever since I first used a barrel in the early 80's. Any more then you're just wasting sugar since the excess gas produced will vent itself off.
