hi rob, sounds ominous.
what t6ype of barrel is it?
warped keg
Re: warped keg
Could be excess gas not blown out through the release valve (presuming your barrel has such a valve)

Stand back and count to 10 if he hasn't.KevP wrote:Could be excess gas not blown out through the release valve (presuming your barrel has such a valve)

It sounds as if the rubber on the pressure release valve has stuck. Give it a good squeeze to make sure it's working.
Re: warped keg
same happened to me on a youngs budget barrel, pressure release valve on cap
Re: warped keg
Same thing with ours, on a Youngs barrell.
Pressure built up so much it ended up pouring out around the rubber seal on the tap at the bottom of the barrell!!! Not good for the carpet!!!!
Having posted a 'help' message (being fairly new to this brewing mullarky) on this site, the advice recieved seemed to suggest that it appears that we put the beer into the barrell too early, before it had finished doing its stuff in the f.v.
In the end just unscrewed the cap & released some of the pressure! Beer tasted fine (what was left of it - salvaged about 3/4 of the barrell) & wasn't cloudy.
When the contents were drunk, just washed out the barrell, tightened the taps, adjusted the rubber seal on the inside of the cap (we have the one with the Co2 attachement) as it seemed to have slipped & filled it up again. Seems to be fine at the moment (famous last words!!!) & we are about 1/2 way through this one. The barrell is still a bit out of shape at the top, being a bit more 'bowled up' but holding in there...
Cheers,
Lady K.
