For me.

1- Woodfordes Nelsons Revenge, 4.7% big malt taste that reminds me of Old Peculiar.

2 - Woodfordes Great Eastern Ale. 4.2% Malty hoppy light quaffing ale, reminds me of a good pale ale.

3 - Coopers sparking ale 4.0% lovely refreshing summer quaffing ale that tastes just like the original,

This is a good topic, hopefully more people respond. Of the kits I've tried here is my list

1. Brewferm Triple (primed with candi sugar)

2. Ferkin Best Bitter

3. Brupaks Scammonden Dark (so good I tried it twice, however first time is always best isn't it?)

Coopers IPA is the only good one I've tried, not much experience with kits though. It was excellent and I would brew it again. Coopers Bavarian Lager isn't bad either.

1: Woodefordes Eastern Ale

2: Muntons Gold IPA

3: Muntons Gold Highland Heavy

All bottled as I don't yet possess a keg and left for a good few weeks longer than instructions before tasting!

1. Brupaks Colne Valley Bitter

2. Woodfordes Great Eastern Ales

3. Brupaks Brewers choice IPA

Although I don't tend to do kits much anymore, but if I'm in a rush they're always handy and with a few tweaks here and there give excellent results!

You should try a Woodfordes if you want a quick brew one day, I am sure you will be impressed.

Interesting to now your tweaks, and the difference they made, I like a handful of hops in the carboy.

Well it's nothing too scientific, I normally either dry hop or steep some fresh hops/grains for about 15-20 mins and add the water to the fermenter. (This should add some freshness which the manufacturing process of making concentrated wort has taken out)

I also do away with the kit yeast and use a liquid culture such as white labs or Wyeast which means you can select a yeast strain to give slightly different characteristics or attenuation.

Works for me anyway!
