Knowing the problems folk keep having with Muntons kits especially Wherry, what kits are actually produced by Muntons? Is it all kits are do they produce the majority? What actually causes these kits to fail?
One of the best brews I've made to date was a Muntons Premium Lager (1 can).
What kits do Muntons actually produce?
Re: What kits do Muntons actually produce?
i thought muntons were looking into it about 18 months ago? (took a break you could say)
taking a wild guess, i would say its the malt (mabe using some sugar and yeast vit would help)
saying that i usually make a big starter (30-50g sugar, 1-2 tsp yeast vit) and pitch when its foaming, keep temps right and shouldnt get (any) problems

Re: What kits do Muntons actually produce?
sounds like a plan matt re a large starter. It has to be something to do with the malt. I am going to use S-04 when I try my Wherry.
So, it seems that nearly all 'premium' beer kits are made by Muntons, meaning they have a stanglehold on the industry. Anyone else think they will destroy the kit brewing industry if they carry on?

Re: What kits do Muntons actually produce?
considering the uk home brewing market isnt that huge to start with, there wouldnt be much to kill off.
and doesnt look like the problem will ever be sorted (for me atleast) as it was around 18 months ago they were still banging on about this problem, and muntons didnt do much then either.
on the up side, coopers now do liquid malt extract which they didnt 18 months ago, id be more inclined to use that (not that im saying theres anything Wrong with muntons
) or for all i know you could get the same problem using LME from other companys as well as muntons, i havent extensivly tried them all yet to be honest though im sure its a case of suck it and see (the egg that is)
