simple one....i've a plastic FV, sure you know the type...I've a TC in there at the mo, and the lid "puffs up", due to CO2 i assume, should this be released or left alone?

Do you have an airlock fitted into the lid if so no problem.

no, its just a "bucket with lid" style Fv

mate just snap the lid on in 2 opposing places only - this will allow it to lift and vent off excess pressure, but will also prevent any air/nasties getting in. certainly do not seal the lid down completely all the way round (unless it already has an airlock fitted)
There's really no need for an airlock - just keep your mitts out until it's done, to avoid disrupting the protective CO2 blanket.

i've "meddled" before, but been lucky, only had 1 bad bottle, and 2 too fizzy bottles in the 120 or so i've done, i'll follow your advice re: the lid in future
