John Bull Cider Help
I bottled my cider a week ago adding one teaspoon of sugar per litre. The problem that i may have is that i just realised that i should have put 2 teaspoons of sugar per litre. What i want to know is. Can i add the extra teaspoon of sugar now?
If you added the sugar a week ago you could test a bottle first, depending on how much room you left at the top of the bottle there might already be enough carbonation. If you do open and add more sugar you would create more sediment i think and may also lose some of the fiz that is there. Test first and see what you think, ive not heard results of people adding more sugar to bottles after a week though.
I bottled a JB cider last week, I used about the same amount of priming sugar as you did, but intentionally - I only wanted a little fizz.
If yours turns out anything like mine, you'll need the extra sugar if you want it fizzy. I don't see why you won't be able to add the extra sugar later, though as DaaB says, the yeast will need a bit of rousing - and you might lose a little co2 in the process.
Personally, I quite like mine as it is, but then I like still scrumpy...
