Ok my first brew (EDME stout) is all but finished after six days in the fermenter so I will be bottling this up tomorrow. This of course leaves me with an empty 33L bin (two actually!) that needs something for the summer in it.
I was going to go to Wilkinson and pick up a Woodforde's Wherry for £14.99 but having read the thread on here I am a bit concerned. I like my beer at around 4-5% ABV and it doesn't seem this will get there, so I am stuck now with what to try next...
I want to do either a nice ale or a lager. I would like it to be around 4-5% ABV. Anything along the lines of Holsten Pils, Carlesberg Export, Green King IPA, Old Speckled Hen, Tanglefoot.
Any recommendations? If so, do I need any extras such as spray malt/BKE etc?
Advice required for next brew
Re: Advice required for next brew
I can heartily recommend the two coopers brews i've just done.
Real ale and Aussie Lager. both are between 4-5%, in fact, the real ale is going to be about 5.3% according to the calculation in the instructions, I think it's because i threw an extra 100g of demerara into it. It tastes delicious already and i can't wait for it to condition properly in the barrel.
I always use BKE in my brews, sometimes brewing sugar for my lagers.
hope this helps,
Cheers
